Ghost Songs Lyrics
Ghost, formerly known as “Ghost B.C.” in the US until the release of Meliora, is a Swedish metal band with psychedelic elements that harkens back to a more. The Doors Lyrics. 'Ghost Song'. Shake dreams from your hair. My pretty child, my sweet one.
General Comment'Indian's scattered on dawn's highway bleedingGhosts crowd the young child's fragile eggshell mind'Jim's very own explanation of this verse:'Me and my- ah- mother and father- and agrandmother and a grandfather- were driving throughthe desert,at dawn, and a truck load of Indianworkers had either hit another car, or just- I don'tknow what happened- but there were Indian's scatteredall over the highway, bleeding to death. So the car pulls up and stops. That was the first timeI tasted fear. I musta' been about four- like a child islike a flower, his head is just floating in thebreeze, man.The reaction I get now thinking about it, lookingback- is that the souls of the ghosts of those deadIndians.
Maybe one or two of 'em. Were justrunning around freaking out, and just leaped into mysoul. And they're still in there.' I think this is one of the most beautiful songs/poems I've ever heard.
General Commentindians schmindians, its supposedly the ghosts of people passed telling us how to live. From birth -shake dreams from you hair, my pretty child- 2 life - the music and voices are all around us- 2 death -enter again the sweet forest, the hot dream, come with us-its the ghosts giving the living guidance and the final line is their advice on being human - we're the only intelligent species that can delineate the finite in the infinite, akaeverything in life is broken up and dancesmy opinion, morrison 'the shaman' communicating w/ the spirit world, who tell us to chill everything in life is just dancingeither way a badass song that gives me goosebumples when im hi.
General CommentIt's the introduction to the album 'An American Prayer' which is a comforting montage about growing up in America. The final stanza 'Indians Scattered on dawns highway.' Recalls a favorite story of Morrisons' about witnessing the aftermath of a car accident involving 'Indians' or agricultural workers (pickers) who had crashed and died on a desert highway in Arizona. Recall the song 'Peace Frog' from the album, Morrison Hotel: the line 'Indians scattered on dawn's highway bleeding/Ghosts crowd the young child's fragile eggshell mind' originates from his poem, 'Newborn Awakening'. He fancied himself a Shaman who's skills were not earned but bestowed upon him by the ghosts of the dead Indians. He had said that he was chosen but this is pure fancy. Pong world. About being a Shaman.he certainly volunteered.
However, the reality of this is purely a romantic notion.
